‘Not even one star, should be zero star’ — Customer feels cheated by char siew stall giving smaller portion than what was paid for

A disgruntled customer took to social media to share her disappointment with a char siew stall at Bukit Gombak.

“I don’t even convince myself why I should even give a one star for the rating. It should be zero star,” wrote a Facebook page Complaint Singapore member on Sunday (Oct 2).

The customer purchased 19 takeaway orders of the S$5 meal from Hua Zai Gombak Food Pte Ltd at 347 Bukit Batok Street 34.

“Their char siew is like so little, five pieces per packet plus one egg,” said the customer.

“I asked for a S$5 portion, and he tricked me, giving me a S$4.20 portion.”

The individual then confronted the stall operator if there was a misunderstanding with the order.

“Knowing that I was angry, he insisted that he give me an explanation, and finally he admitted his mistake and was willing to return the money to me,” said the original poster.

“It’s wrong to deceive consumers; please be careful when you go to this stall!” she added.

Netizens agreed that for S$5, the provided portion was not worth it. “That’s really very little meat,” commented Facebook user Tony Khoo.

It appears that others have experienced similar issues with the same brand. “Pasir Ris branch also. Stop feeding them in order to save other consumers,” said Facebook user Raymond Khoo.

“Gave up on this franchise. No dignity and pride in what they are doing even at different branches,” noted Facebook user James Teo.

“Sengkang West branch (is) worse. One pack char siew rice, they slice the char siew as thin as paper,” added another customer.

The Independent Singapore has reached out to the company for a statement and will update the article accordingly. /TISG
