Singapore—The latest shot in the Lee family feud was fired today by the Prime Minister’s sister, Dr Lee Wei Ling, who posted an email on her Facebook account on Tuesday, April 30, which proved that lawyer Kwa Kim Lee was aware of the will of Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore’s founding Prime Minister and the family patriarch, in December 2013.

Dr Lee had written that “Kwa Kim Li (KKL) of Lee & Lee has denied involvement in the events that led to this 2013 will. These are all falsehoods. KKL has been lying. She has also breached her duties to her client, my father.”

The Prime Minister’s sister has sprung to the defense of the wife of her other brother Lee Hsien Yang, due to allegations that Lee Fern Suet “prepared and somehow got our father to sign a will in December 2013.”

Dr Lee clarified “Lee & Lee have always been lawyers for my father’s personal matters including all his wills, powers of attorney, and Advance Medical Directives including his affirmation in August 2014 of his AMD.”

From the email she posted, which is from Ms Kwa to Lee Kwan Yew, dated December 12, 2013, it is evident that Ms Kwa was well aware of what the Prime Minister wanted in his will, and that she was preparing a codicil based on his wishes to ensure all of his children would receive equal shares of his estate.

Dr Lee ended her statement saying that there are more emails proving Lee Kwan Yew discussed his will with Ms Kwa.

Dr Lee’s post has been reacted to, commented on and shared many times, with netizens showing support for the Lee siblings, and even asking her and Lee Hsien Yang to contest in the next General Election.

The feud between PM Lee on one side and his siblings on the other has grown more intense since the beginning of the year, with Lee Suet Fern facing a disciplinary tribunal called for by the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) for her alleged role in helping prepare the will of her father-in-law. On April 12, Lee Hsien Yang announced on Facebook that the AGC had filed “over 500 pages of complaint” against his wife.

Last January, a case of “possible professional misconduct” in the preparation of Lee Kuan Yew’s final will was referred to the Law Society by the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC).

In a Facebook post on January 7, Lee Hsien Yang denied that his wife had ever been Lee Kuan Yew’s lawyer. He wrote, “My wife was never Lee Kuan Yew’s lawyer. Our father’s private will was executed some 5 years ago. Our father informed his entire family and his lawyers at Lee & Lee when he completed his will and kept his will at Lee & Lee.”

Netizens ask, what about Kwa Kim Li?

Commenters openly wondered about Kwa Kim Li, Lee Kuan Yew’s lawyer caught in the crosshairs of the Lee family feud.

Others felt that LKY’s lawyer Kwa Kim Li should be called to account. Christopher Tan wrote, “Law society should asked KKL for an interview and records her statements!” (sic)

Patrick Ho wrote, “…shouldn’t KKL be investigated then?…”

William Kho wrote, “From this post by Dr Lee, it sure looks like KKL is not truthful and thus has put many members of the Lee family in trouble. As Dr Lee has pointed out that KKL has been handling the will of LKY all the time, then why is she denying that the will is not done by her? So what is the reason for KKL to do this? Is she being threatened, blackmailed, bribed, or out of obligation? Hence if the reasons are known, then all the answers will be there. And this may be something that Dr Lee has to find out in order to clear the names of her sister in law.” (sic)

Another netizen wondered if she could possibly be under some “duress”?

But another commenter was quick to call Ms Kwa to accountability all the more.
