Opposition lunch: WP chief Pritam Singh shares ‘delightful’ meal with PSP head Francis Yuen, discovers a common bond

When Pritam Singh had lunch recently with Francis Yuen, the two men discovered they had more in common than being heads of opposition parties: Mr Yuen and Mr Singh’s father had been officers in the Singapore Armed Forces at the same time.

Mr Singh, the Leader of the Opposition, is the Secretary-General of the Workers’ Party and while Mr Yuen holds the same position at the Progress Singapore Party. The WP and the PSP are the only opposition parties with members serving in the current Parliament.

Grab driver allegedly refused to drop off unwell passenger at NUH A&E, driver also complained fare was only S$13.10

Facebook page Complaint Singapore member Prema Sugesh shared with the community on Thursday (May 26) that her mother was feeling unwell, so they booked a Grab to the hospital. “Throughout the journey, this guy was complaining to my mother how at this hour he’s only getting S$13.10 for this trip,” said Ms Sugesh.

Ms Sugesh’s mother was feeling nauseated and informed the driver of her condition, asking him if he could stop talking, but the driver allegedly wouldn’t stop complaining.”My mother could barely walk, and he stopped her outside NUH, saying that he can’t turn in to the A&E!” added the concerned daughter. “What if my mother fainted outside??”

SDP: Elections Department to make voting easier for select group but system still stacked in PAP’s favour

The Elections Department (ELD) is planning to make voting easier for Singaporeans abroad and nursing home residents, yet this does not assuage concerns that it still operates from the Prime Minister’s Office, said the opposition Singapore Democratic Party on Thursday (May 26).

The gerrymandering and arbitrary formation of Group Representation Constituencies (GRCs) and Single Member Constituencies (SMCs) leave the entire election system very much stacked in the People’s Action Party’s (PAP’s) favour, the party added in a media release.

Lim Tean to defend activist Gilbert Goh on pro bono basis (free service for public good) in court next week over unlawful assembly charges

In a Facebook post on Friday morning (May 27), lawyer Lim Tean said he will be representing Mr Gilbert Goh in court starting from Monday next week (May 30).

Mr Lim, who heads the opposition party People’s Voice, wrote: “Next week from 29 May to 1 June, I shall be defending Gilbert Goh in the State Courts on 2 charges of unlawful assembly and refusing to sign a police statement

Rodent infestations at Pasir Ris & Telok Blangah Crescent, Netizens say reported to NEA but NEA ‘claimed action was taken’

A concern regarding a possible rodent infestation was posted on social media on Friday morning (May 27), the witness noting that the situation was “getting worse.”

Facebook page Complaint Singapore member Dustin Lee shared a video and photo of an exposed trash bag beside the trash bin with at least two rats rummaging for leftovers.
