A man interested in lifts shared his experience online of a woman who demanded he delete his video reviewing a lift at Hougang Mall.

Despite offering to cut her portion out of the footage, the woman said he should retake the whole thing.

The video was uploaded on YouTube channel PotatoLift1, which is filled with other lift review videos.

The man has featured lifts in locations such as Nanyang Polytechnic, Block 314 Ang Mo Kio, and White Sands Shopping Mall, all the while providing information such as the year and brand of the particular lift.

On June 15, it was a “nice Otis lift,” which he was told had about another month to live. The video caption reads, “1997 Otis Spec 90 Lift + Crazy Lady – Hougang Mall.”

The YouTuber was five minutes into reviewing the lift when two women entered.

As the lift doors closed, the man panned his camera, capturing one of the women in a red shirt for a second or two.

“What are you filming?” the woman asked.

“The lift,” the man replied.

The woman then said, “But I’m in the photo. Can you re-film the thing?” When the man refused, the woman became frustrated and demanded he deletes the entire video.

“I had already been filming the lift for five minutes when a crazy lady entered and tried to threaten me. She demanded I delete the whole video even when I offered to cut her out,” said the YouTuber.

“After I stopped filming, she tried to film me and threatened to call the police. At that point, I had enough and just left via the carpark ramp and lost her,” he added.

The man decided to post the entire clip online as evidence in case anything happened.

Responding to the backlash from netizens that he had a peculiar interest or was “dumb or retarded,” the man pinned a comment on his original video, explaining his background.

“At least I’m doing something useful by recording this lift that’s about to be history and uploading it to remember its original state.

What good have you done for society? All most of y’all do is smoke at Lorong Halus Bridge at 3 am, rant about your caring parents online and overall be a menace to normal people.”

“At least I have a hobby that isn’t toxic. Everything would be fine if she hadn’t tried to force me to delete the video and tried to record me,” he added.

It appears that he also gained support from others who understood his hobby./TISG
