Lei Wei Song and Lee Si Song, Singaporean Musician twin brothers, shared their experiences as they lived through their careers for years in the music industry. Being invited as guests in Qi Yuwu and Joanne Peh’s new YouTube series, Wu Suo Bu Tan, the musicians indeed highlighted behind-the-scenes news about the musical limelight in Singapore.

Lee Wei Song expressed that he was once forced to cry during a Chinese music show that showcased touching moments for the singer, Tiger Huang. He said that the production team formulated an emotional scene when a video of Huang and her daughter was played during her performance – which caused the singer to cry. The director instructed him to cry as well, to which he answered “No, I can’t cry”.

Wei Song mentioned that he was also instructed to criticize another singer, Angela Zhang. He was told that after her set, he should tell her that she only knows how to wear mini skirts and that she has no talents at all. But he said, “How can I hurt her like that? I’m not going to say it”.

Unfortunately, these forced demands on artists by producers always happen in the music industry.

In the case of Lee Si Song, he was also commanded to criticize the singer JJ Lin to create a scene for a show. He ended up complimenting JJ Lin, who was a newcomer back then and brushed off the harsh instructions from the production staff.

For the twins, working in the music industry is definitely a difficult place to be.

According to them, singers nowadays just perform to show off their skills, even though their songs do not really have an impact on the lives of people.

However, the brothers believe in their music – their songwriting and music production – and they know how to find a balance between fame and passion for music.
