Matthew Perry, Edwards

Kayti Edwards, who dated Matthew Perry in the past, has suggested that the “Friends” star may have experienced a relapse leading up to his tragic death. In an interview with the UK Sun, she expressed her doubts about the circumstances surrounding his passing, particularly the drowning aspect. She speculates that he might have taken pills in the week prior to his death.

Edwards mentioned that she briefly dated Perry in 2006 after meeting at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. They remained close even after their relationship ended, with Edwards working as his assistant in 2011.

Kayti Edwards on his death

Matthew Perry was found dead on October 28 in a jacuzzi at his Los Angeles home, apparently from drowning at the age of 54. Initial toxicology reports did not detect the presence of fentanyl or meth, but Edwards believes that there are inconsistencies in the details of his death. She noted that there were no prescription painkillers at the scene, as Perry was careful not to leave drugs lying around. He would consume them all and then replenish his supply when needed.

Edwards also pointed to a clue in Perry’s final Instagram post, shared five days before his death, where he referred to himself as “Mattman.” She claimed that “Mattman” was a persona associated with Perry when he was not sober, suggesting a potential return to illicit drugs.

Perry would be around water when high

Furthermore, Edwards stated that Perry had a tendency to be around water when he consumed alcohol or drugs, recounting an incident when he was found “naked and high” in a neighbor’s swimming pool.

Despite these claims, a representative for Perry did not respond to requests for comment. Edwards had previously revealed that she served as a delivery driver for Perry during the peak of his addiction in 2011, even while she was five months pregnant.

Struggle with addiction

In his memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” Perry candidly detailed his long and tumultuous history with drug and alcohol addiction, acknowledging the severity of his struggles.

Matthew Perry was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills on November 8.
