Katy Perry diversifies into podcasting with Elizabeth Taylor special

We may be accustomed to listening to Katy Perry’s wide vocal range through her singing but her fans can now enjoy listening to her speak with the launch of her podcast.

The podcast which is based on the life of Elizabeth Taylor will feature a 10 part audio series titled Elizabeth The First. 

Elizabeth The First will include stories from the people who were closest to Elizabeth and will be aired in 10 parts.

The podcast will include Elizabeth’s career trajectory and how she was propelled to stardom in a male-dominated industry as well as her legendary role in Cleopatra where she became the highest-paid actress of her time.

Perry will also talk about her famous jewellery collection which inspired the White Diamond fragrance. The famous actress also battled alcoholism and drug abuse throughout her chequered career though later in life she advocated for awareness of HIV and AIDS.

In a statement to InsideNova, Perry said that she had always felt a kinship towards the iconic actress who died in 2011 at the age of 79.

“Like most people, I was attracted to her glamour, and in my own life, I continue to find myself referencing her through some of my visuals. I’ve always felt a kinship towards her -literally even bathed in the same bathtub where she made that bar-setting Cleopatra deal,” said the famous singer.

Elizabeth The First will make its debut in spring on Apple and Spotify.
