Just as Donald Trump takes the stand to give his testimony, he clashed with the judge for using the platform to complain about his legal troubles.
He started testifying by going on about his legal woes telling the attorney general’s counsel Kevin Wallace that him and other Democrat prosecutors were coming after him from 15 different sites.
“Weaponization, they call it. I’m sure the judge will rule against me because he always rules against me,” said Trump.
At that juncture Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron said enough is enough and that Wallace had been patient with him as it is. He told Trump to answer the questions directed at him.
He also questioned Trump’s attorney Christopher Kise asking him if the remark was necessary. Kise then said that Trump deserved some lenience as the former President of the United States and quite likely (if the New York Times poll anything to go by) the future president as well.
Engoron told Trump, “You can attack me, do whatever you want, but answer the question.”
Gag order from Judge
Last month Trump was issued a gag order by a judge after he attacked a court clerk by name and shared her image on social media.
He had written on his Truth Social platform and posted a picture of clerk and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y, “Schumer’s girlfriend, Alison R. Greenfield is running this case against me. How disgraceful! This case should be dismissed immediately!”.
The post appeared alongside a photograph of Greenfield standing next to Schumer. As a consequence of the gag order, Trump had to delete the post on his Truth Social site.
Engoron had said, “Personal attacks on members of my court staff are unacceptable, inappropriate, and I won’t tolerate it [in my courtroom].”
He said the gag order is to prevent all parties from posting things about members of his staff.
