A young university student wrote that she was confused and asked for advice about her situation with a senior student with whom she has a close friendship. The girl, a year 1 student, has a boyfriend doing army training but admits that she led on the senior student, whom she describes as “my ideal type of guy.”
“He is always by my side whenever I feel depress (sic), cheering me up with magic tricks. Although he knew that I’m already attached, he continued to shower me with affection and love. Instead of rejecting him, I led him on by asking him to hug me when I’m sad. Kiss him on the cheek when he sent me back home.”
The young woman argued that she is not cheating on her boyfriend “as long as I didn’t engage in s**ual activity with” the senior student. She added that she has told the senior student “there is a very low probability” of her becoming his girlfriend.
“However, he gave me a shocking reply that touched my heart deeply and brought me to tears… he is unwilling to abandon a vulnerable girl like me. He wants to stay by my side to protect my fragile heart until the day I no longer needs (sic) him. When that day arrives, he will cut all contacts from me in order to nurse his emotional wounds,” the girl wrote, adding, “I’m confuse(d) now, what should I do?”
Her post on the NUS Whispers Facebook page on Wednesday (June 22), must have resonated with many netizens, as it already has over 400 comments.
Many commenters are saying the girl is “already cheating.”
Others told her she was watching too much K-drama.
One told her to imagine the scenario if the tables were turned and her boyfriend was doing the same to her.
Another told her bluntly, “break up with your boyfriend then tell your side guy to cut off contact now. then you go figure out what you really want in the meantime then go find someone new.”
