Malaysia – “You are already 27 years old, but only saved RM50,000 (S$16,000), cannot leh,” a woman allegedly told her then Malaysian boyfriend before ending the relationship.

Facebook page MCN 亚娱 posted WhatsApp screenshots of the girlfriend complaining that her partner only had RM50,000 in his savings.

“My friends eat Hai Di Lao every day, but you only bring me there once a month,” said the woman.

Furthermore, the man’s monthly salary of RM4,000 to RM5,000 was also an issue for the girlfriend.

“What do you take me for,” she asked.

According to the screenshots posted on Feb 9, the woman has been thinking about the issue for a while.

Although she wanted to break up with her boyfriend, she postponed the decision knowing her relatives would ask about their relationship during the Chinese New Year.

The woman noted in her messages that she was already being considerate by bringing up the break up after the festivities.

She was asked how much savings would meet her standards, to which she replied that she didn’t know the exact sum but felt that RM50,000 could be used up in one month.

“I don’t think you can provide me with the kind of life I want, sorry,” said the woman at the end.

The post has over 13,000 shares and 3,700 comments to date, with netizens criticising the woman’s reason for ending the relationship.

“I want money; I earn it with my hard work. What kind of woman are you to depend on the guy,” asked a Facebook user.

“Earn 4-5k a month and have 50k savings, and you have this kind of girlfriend. Seems like you are quite good at saving money?” said a Facebook user, taking the side of the boyfriend.

Others wondered if the screenshots were authentic or a marketing stunt by Hai Di Lao, given that it was posted by marketing agency Asia MCN.
