Foreign worker loses wallet with permit and S$1,000; fellow worker spots FB post and returns valued items

Singapore – “I never imagined that everyone would help me so much,” wrote a Facebook user who used the social media platform in hopes of getting his lost wallet back.

One Habib Khan posted details of his wallet on Monday (Feb 14), noting he had last seen his belonging that day at around 2:30 pm on the way from Mustafa Centre to Little India.

He had about S$1,000, his bank card, a permit card and other personal documents inside his wallet.

Mr Habib attached a sample photo of his wallet, his special pass and contact details on his post in hopes of getting any leads from the online community.

The post was shared nearly a thousand times, with netizens doing their part to spread the word.

A netizen suggested checking Dhoby Ghaut MRT station as he had recently found a wallet there and passed it to the control station.

Eventually, Facebook user Redoy Jakir Hossain commented, “Brother, wallet is available. Please contact me!”

Mr Habib posted an update on Wednesday (Feb 16), noting that a kind stranger had returned his wallet and everything inside it.

“The man who returned the wallet to me was undoubtedly a good person and big heart(ed) man,” he wrote, thanking the man who helped him.

Mr Habib also thanked all his friends on Facebook, adding he did not expect his post to be shared that much.

“I never imagined that everyone would help me so much. Today, I have proved to myself that the money earned in an honest way never fails,” he added.

Mr Habib posted photos of himself and the person who found his wallet. They even had a meal together.
