S’porean taxi driver takes detour to return lost phone & earpiece to his passengers

Singapore — A Singaporean taxi driver made two detours to return a lost cellular phone and an earpiece to his two previous passengers.

A passenger of the taxi driver shared the experience on Sunday (Nov 21) via the Instagram account of @Sgfollowsall, who made a detour after asking for permission to return a lost phone to its rightful owner.

“Hello, I would like to share my story of a taxi driver today who showed his patient and helpful character. This uncle picked me up and I saw a phone in the car. He immediately knew who it belonged to and told me if I wouldn’t mind waiting while he drove to the owner’s place and returned it. I agreed thinking it was very nice of him! and then when we reached the owner didn’t show up until a few minutes later, he was in the rain waiting and quickly got back to the car to take his umbrella,” the passenger shared on Instagram.

The passenger was amazed by the driver’s service and kind heart to patiently drive back and return the lost phone. The driver waited for the owner to come out from their home while it was raining.

After returning the phone to the previous passenger, the driver then dropped off his new passenger at his destination.

In a turn of events, the new passenger who shared the experience also left an earpiece in the taxi. The passenger said “I also left my earpiece in the car, when I realised it I immediately contacted him and he came, I was so embarrassed and thankful at the same time that when he came to pass me the earpiece.”

The driver did not hesitate to return the earpiece and belongings of his passengers. While the passenger shared that he/she was embarrassed, they were extremely thankful for the driver’s honesty and good service.

The passenger insisted on paying for the driver’s inconvenience but was politely refused and said it was fine. “This really made my whole year!!,” the passenger added at the end of the post.

The passenger did not reveal any other information about the driver.

Netizens applauded and praised the driver for his excellent service to his passengers. Some also wished that they would meet more drivers like this kind uncle who returned the belongings to its owners. /TISG
