Whether it’s a grand gesture, or an act from a creepy stalker, a businessman from the Philippines is getting a lot of attention for asking Blackpink’s Jennie out to dinner through a billboard in Seoul that cost him around S$40,000.

Christian Albert Gaza, 28, who calls himself “Jennie’s Number One Fan” posted a photo of the billboard on his Facebook page on Oct 31. His invitation is located at 62, Noksapyeong-daero 11-gil, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

“Kim Jennie Ruby Jane,

you are my ultimate crush.

“Can I take you out to dinner”

and make me the happiest man alive?,” he wrote in the post, which has since gone viral.

He went on to explain that he did not know how to get in touch with the Kpop star, and so he posted his invite on a billboard in the “heart of South Korea,” a “few kilometers away from BLACKPINK’s YG headquarters.”

“I hope she will say YES.”

Mr Gaza became known in the Philippines for such grand gestures as he also asked a popular actress in the same way in 2017 to a coffee date. She said no.

However, the ‘Billboard Millionaire’ also comes with a shady past, with people coming forward claiming to have been scammed by Mr Gaza.

In 2018, he was convicted of violating the Philippines’ Bouncing Check Law, and left the country after his conviction.

Nevertheless, he seems to be enjoying the attention he’s getting from his latest billboard stunt, re-posting articles about it, along with tribute posts to the Blackpink star.

In one post, accompanied by a photo of himself on a plane, he wrote that “even if Jennie’s fans would just laugh at him because she’s in Los Angeles and not in Seoul,” he implied that people who don’t ride planes are unaware of the reality “that each and every country is just less than 24 hours away from each other.”

I don’t care if Jennie’s in LA, London, Dubai, Hong Kong, Tokyo or any corner of the world. What I care about if she and her management will say YES or NO to my dinner date proposal because as a millionaire… even inside a plane we can have dinner.”

In another post, he wrote that his business partner in South Korea had told him that they should put the company logo on the proposal billboard to promote their businesses and to recoup the 1.5 million Philippine pesos (S$40,000) he spent.

“I did not agree because then the sincerity of my dinner date proposal for Jennie would be lost. I told him I would rather choose to be happy than to earn money. Genuine happiness over money.

Anyway, I told him, I can earn that 1.5 million pesos in ten days.”

Meanwhile, on Twitter, the Korean star’s fans are calling for the businessman to leave her alone, and for her management company to protect her.
