Digital lock company offers $5,000 reward to anyone who hands over ex-staff who ‘took $100,000 from customers’ over to police

A local digital lock company went public on its Facebook account, alleging that one of its former employees had stolen at least $100,000 from its customers.

My Digital Lock Pte Ltd, which is based in Northpoint Bizhub, has accused a former sales associate named Travis Ow, who had worked at the firm’s Bukit Batok showroom of running off with the money.

In a 9.5-minute video also posted to its FB page, My Digital Lock director Ronn Teo addressed what he said were his former employee’s misdeeds. The company found out, he said, when a number of customers said they had put in orders  but did not get invoices from the company.  Some said they tried to contact Mr Ow, but could not reach him.

Mr Ow has since been fired and a police report filed, the company said on its Facebook account on Mar 29.

According to the company’s post, he would get customers to make payments to his own account, andnot the company’s.  He was also said “to have a new number that indicated My Digital Lock Pte Ltd was attach(ed) to his second mobile number,” the FB post added.

Photos of Mr Ow, the former employee, have also been posted on the company’s FB page.

My Digital Lock alleged in its Mar 29 post that Mr Ow issued fake invoices with erroneous customer details and offered special discounts for customers who made purchases outside the company’s showroom.

My Digital Lock has advised people not to send any money to Mr Ow via PayNow:

“Anything he promise you will not come true as many customers are looking for him,” the company added in its post. “Hari raya is coming, our company wishes to assist all victim to complete your projects.”

Mr Teo promised in the video he uploaded that the company will fulfill the orders customers filed under Mr Ow, but asked the customers to file a police report. He also asks customers to contact the company so that their invoices may be authenticated.

Mr Ow has not returned the company-issued laptop and invoices since Feb 6, and a number of customers “are still in the dark” My Digital Lock said in its post.

In a fresh Facebook post on Mar 31 (Thursday), My Digital Lock asked for help in finding Mr Ow, with a cash reward of $5,000 as an incentive.

“We need your help to track him down if you happen to find him at Woodlands checkpoint or other checkpoint heading to Indonesia or Malaysia on 1st April.

“All you need is to confront whether he is Travis, and hand him to the police,” the company said in its Mar 31 FB post, adding that if the former sales associate escapes to Malaysia, “It is impossible for us to track him down.”

A separate reward of $500 cash is also being offered for any information about Mr Ow’s wife or girlfriend, whom he claimed gave birth last September.

“However nobody have seen his wife or girlfriend nor the kid. We need to verify whether this story is true as he took plenty of leave and (time) off claiming that he need to take care of the family,” My Digital Lock wrote, adding that Mr Ow’s former associates also want to know if the story is true.
