Allkpop, a South Korean entertainment portal, stated that on Dec 12, Taeyang posted a photo of himself on Instagram with the caption “Unexpected photo by G-Dragon”. As a result, many people wondered if G-Dragon visited the star to wish him a happy father’s day.

Taeyang’s Instagram post garnered over 200K likes within the first hour of posting. It already has 758K likes and 12.9K comments as of this writing.

Who is Taeyang?

Dong Young-bae, better known by the stage names Taeyang (meaning “sun” in Korean) or SOL (when playing in Japan), was born on May 18, 1988, and is most recognized for his work as a lyricist, dancer, and vocalist. Since he appeared in Jinusean’s music video “A-yo” at 12, he has been trained by YG Entertainment.

He debuted in 2006 as a member of the South Korean boy band BIGBANG, making his debut six years later. They received a lacklustre reception when they made their debut. After the success of their second album, BIGBANG became one of the most popular digital groups in Asia and one of the most popular boy bands in the world.

The first extended play Taeyang released as a solo artist was “Hot,” which followed the release of multiple albums and extended plays with BIGBANG. At the 6th Korean Music Awards, Hot was awarded Best R & B & Soul Album for its critically acclaimed performance.

After Hot, Solar was Taeyang’s first full-length studio album. It has sold almost a quarter of a million copies. This is the highest-charting Korean solo artist’s second studio album, rising to number 112 on the US Billboard 200. /TISG
