SINGAPORE: In a recent Facebook post, Member of Parliament Jamus Lim shared his commitment to attending any events within Anchorvale and even in Sengkang GRC.

Mr Lim took to Facebook on Tuesday morning (Aug 8) to share snippets of his recent participation in a Singapore National Day community festival organised by residents of 321B Anchorvale and the non-profit organisation My Community.

“Over the weekend, I was delighted to have been invited by the residents of 321B Anchorvale, working in collaboration with My Community, to the launch of ‘Decorate My Sengkang, their SGNationalDay community festival,” Mr Lim wrote.

“The project decorates the lift lobby and void deck area of 321B, forming a celebratory gateway into the estate, when approaching from Kopitiam Square. The various red-and-white lanterns—and other Singapore-themed decorations—occupied many a night and weekend of the participating residents over the past month.

Apparently, the hardest part was getting the white and red bits to adhere, given their different material. But we get to enjoy the fruits of their effort. So swing by a take a look; it truly is a model (and an analogy) for both community- and nation-building.”

Mr Lim thanked the community for their invitation as well as their work. “Thanks to Li Yong, along with the others at My Community, for the invitation, and also for their ongoing efforts to foster ground-up collaboration among neighbors and residents islandwide,” he said. “And of course, thanks to Ms Jessie for the hard work in coordinating the decoration-making process!”

The MP for Sengkang GRC (Anchorvale) also shared his commitment to residents in a special postscript message: “Residents may wonder if it is appropriate to intrude on our schedules for events such as this. Rest assured, as long as there’s an event within Anchorvale (or even within SengkangGRC for that matter), regardless of whether it is large or small, we will always do my utmost best to attend.”
