The political secretary to Parti Keadilan Rakyat leader Anwar Ibrahim says in his opinion, the man in the gay sex videos that went viral in Malaysia last week looked like party deputy president Azmin Ali who is also the Malaysian Economic Affairs Minister.
Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak says he was unsure whether the videos were real, but adds, “This is my ‘personal’ opinion… I think when the first video came out, I had my doubts. It’s not so clear.
“The second one, I would have to say, looks like him. I won’t say whether it’s real or fake, but it looks like him,” he said in an interview with The Star republished by Malaysia Kini.
The name of Azmin as one of the two men in the videos came out in a confession by a party member from Santubong, Sarawak, Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz who also says he was in the video with Azmin.
A voice conversation said to be between Azmin and Haziq appeared on Youtube, but there is no confirmation if the persons speaking are the two men.
Azmin says it is an attempt at character assassination intended to end his political career. He has no intention to quit as Minister while investigations are ongoing.
Azmin’s aides believe Farhash is behind the video scandal saying he created the videos.
An Aussie newspaper said several experts in video detection and forensic verification agree the tapes are not digitally doctored or altered. But they say they cannot confirm if it is Azmin.
Controversial blogger, Raja Petra Kamaruddin accused Farhash of protection Haziq hinting that Anwar’s men were behind the scandal and the release of the videos.
Yet Farhash said he was at his office in Petaling Jaya when police arrested Haziq, contrary to claims by Raja Petra who said Farhash was at the airport organising a flight for Haziq to Manila.
He said he had to pull up a CCTV recording of where he was at that time to kill the allegations made by the pro-Najib blogger and dissipate rumours involving him in ‘sexpionage’.
