KOREA: As reported by Allkpop, a Korean drama that gained attention online due to leaked photos of the lead actors kissing is now building anticipation with the release of a highlight video.

tvN’s Monday-Tuesday drama ‘My Dearest Nemesis’ is the sequel to “The Queen Who Crowns”.

Adapted from the popular Naver webtoon by Yang Hye Jin, the drama explores the romance between Baek Soo Jeong (Moon Ga Young), a team leader with a troubled past, and Ban Ju Yeon (Choi Hyun Wook), a third-generation chaebol carrying deep emotional scars. Moon Ga Young, Choi Hyun Wook, Lim Se Mi and Kwak Si Yang are included in the cast.

Realistic dynamic

A key point of interest is the chemistry between Moon Ga Young and Lim Se Mi. The two previously portrayed sisters in the 2020 drama, “True Beauty”, earning praise for their realistic dynamic. Fans eagerly anticipate their new roles as friends in this romantic comedy.

The drama also differs from the original webtoon. While the webtoon’s male lead moves to Seoul for college and lives in the female lead’s father’s house, the adaptation shifts the setting to an office, changing the story’s focus.

New storylines emerge as the protagonists’ interactions unfold professionally, fuelling curiosity about the plot’s development.

In January, leaked kissing photos of Moon Ga Young and Choi Hyun Wook sparked online discussions. Some suspected an intentional publicity stunt, but the production team clarified, “We regret the unintentional leak of the photos. We hope viewers look forward to the actors’ chemistry.”

Intriguing audiences

The highlight video, released on Feb 11, showcases Baek Soo Jeong confronting her first love, Ban Ju Yeon, whom she considers her worst crush. They later reunite as boss and subordinate, leading to unforeseen events. As they each recall their past negatively, their bond unexpectedly deepens, intriguing audiences.

tvN’s ‘My Dearest Nemesis’ is set to premiere on Feb 17 at 8:50 PM.
