Amazon Prime Singapore has removed The Boys and Invincible from its Prime Video service.
The Boys is an adaption of Garth Ennis’s award-winning comic books series while Invincible is an adult-themed animated superhero series. Neither can be seen on Prime Video in Singapore now following their removal by Amazon Prime Singapore.
The Boys Season 3 was set to premiere on June 3 when Amazon decided to pull the whole series out from Singapore. The show is about a group of vigilantes who take on superheroes who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods” but who abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good.
The show was launched in 2019 and received good reviews and critical acclaim. It is also an R-rated series with plenty of blood, gore and heroic shenanigans.
Invincible is an adaption of Robert Kirkman’s comic book and is graphically violent with a single dramatic narrative.
The story revolves around 17-year-old Mark Grayson who struggles with a dual identity and battles his superhero father who’s basically a sleeper agent from the planet Viltrum bent on controlling Earth. The series has been described as a kind of subversive Superman.
It is thought that both the shows were removed by Amazon Prime Singapore due to the adult themes. Earlier seasons were technically available on the local service but not on the Amazon Prime app for viewers in Singapore. They could watch the series only on a browser.
Strangely enough for a short period, these shows were available on the Amazon Prime app, but just before the Boys Season 3 arrived, they were pulled again. The browser method does not work as well.
However, the animated spinoff of the mainline series titled The Boys Presents: Diabolical is still available on the app.
Therefore, fans who want to tune into these series have only one option, getting a VPN.
