One Grabcar driver took to Facebook to share how he earned S$912 in one day, after driving for 24 hours.
However, before and during his challenge he added the caveat that “driving 24hrs straight is not advisable. I only did it to show that it can be done for incentive drivers with better knowledge and on a weekday”.
There has been an on-going gripe from the drivers of GrabTaxi Holdings Pte. Ltd., about the lack of incentives and lower fares.
The driver who took up the 24-hour challenge expressed in his video that he was only known as Sonic.
Before, during and after, he shared updates in the form of videos about his journey, and at the end of his 24-hour drive, he posted a picture of his earnings of S$912.
In the first video, the driver introduces himself and adds that he is on his way to Changi Airport. He also explains why he is doing the challenge and adds a caveat, “I strongly advise against driving such long hours because it’s actually very dangerous for yourself and the rider. Rest assured that I will stop if I feel too tired, but I’m very well rested over the weekend. I’m doing this not to challenge anybody or for any fame or any fortune but I’m just doing this to get your attention”.
The driver then takes his first recorded break in the morning at about 10.20am, when he refuels petrol as well. After of about ten hours of driving, he earned about S$456.
The driver’s last recorded break is past midnight, after his completion of the challenge. In the video, he says, “It’s been a gruelling day. I’ve had a lot of support from my pro driver group members”.
He also added that he did not choose the riders he picked up based on their location.
The driver also showed that he completed a total of 59 jobs and earned S$912.
He added, “I really suggest nobody try this”.
“I’m tired. It’s time to go home”.
Other members of the Facebook group ask Sonic to teach them how they could earn this much as well.
