WhatsApp is down worldwide but it is being fixed

The encrypted messaging service owned by Facebook, Whatsapp, is currently inoperable for people across the globe. According to the website Down Detector, problems with the app surged over the last hour.

WhatsApp has acknowledged the outage in a statement to media outlets, saying it is aware of the issues and working on a fix. At this point, however, it’s unclear what the actual issue is nor is it clear when a fix will be deployed.

WhatsApp users around the globe are reporting that the popular messaging app appears to be coming back online, but it’s unclear just how long it will take for all servers to be restored..
