Fireman sustains heat exhaustion as fire engulfs another number 23 warehouse in Tuas

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) reported that the fire at 23 Tuas View Circuit was extinguished after 4 hours of intensive firefighting. SCDF was alerted to the fire at 6:15 am. Damping down operations is now in progress.

At the height of the fire, a total of 38 SCDF emergency vehicles, including 3 Unmanned Fire-fighting Machines (UFM) and about 200 firefighters were involved in the operation.

SCDF also reported that one of its fireman sustained heat exhaustion and was conveyed to the Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. The cause of fire is under investigation.

This is the second big fire emergency to happen in the Tuas area in the last 2 years, and the previous one also happened at a warehouse numbered 23 – 23 Tuas Avenue 11.

SCDF had to deploy 80 personnel to fight the fire which happened at 23 Tuas Ave 11 on 27 April 2014.

Both fire incidents happened at warehouses involving waste products.
