Tampines hawker centre cleaning called into question

The Tampines Round Circle Food Centre at Block 137, Tampines St 11, was closed for 2 weeks for spring cleaning. After it opened, I went there on Saturday (sep 24) morning, and noticed that the whole roof exhaust system was still covered with dried bird droppings and a thick layer of dust.

This was the same problem highlighted of the Workers’ Party. If you remember 3 years ago, the PAP faulted WP for upsetting the hawkers at blocks 511 and 538 in Bedok North Street 3 in Aljunied’s Kaki Buki ward. Hawkers had been upset that when they returned after vacating the stalls for 5-days for cleaning and maintenance, the ceiling and exhaust ducts were not cleaned. A disagreement arose on the topic of if stallholders should have to foot part of the bill for power washing the ceilings and ceiling fixtures.

The PAP was quick to check on the WP town council. But who will check the PAP run town councils which use taxpayers’ money to do such a poor job?
