Kamala Harris or Hillary Clinton may replace Joe Biden as Democrat nominee if he chooses not to run for President

Kamala Harris

Currently, it seems that both major US political parties are at a standstill. The Republicans have the option to choose between Trump or DeSantis. However, it seems if President Biden chooses to not run as President for the second term, the possibility for the new Democrat lead would be Kamala Harris or Hillary Clinton.

A recent Harvard-Harris poll indicates that if President Joe Biden chooses not to run, the top alternative Democrat presidential candidates are Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton, reflecting a shift toward left-leaning preferences within the party.

Kamala Harris leads with 24%, followed by Hillary Clinton at 13%. The poll also highlights Bernie Sanders, Gavin Newsom, Pete Buttigieg, and Elizabeth Warren among the potential candidates.

Notably, the survey reveals a majority of Democrats (59%) and independents (66%) don’t favour Biden’s reelection bid. While Biden’s intent to run remains strong, there’s speculation about the impact of a potential withdrawal on the Democratic Party.

The possibility of Biden stepping down, although seemingly low, raises concerns, especially regarding his fitness for office, with 58% expressing doubts about his mental capabilities and two-thirds suggesting he might be too old for the presidency. The poll, conducted from November 15 to 16, 2023, with a sample of 2,851 voters, did not specify a margin of error.

X users sharing opinions on Kamala Harris or Hilary Clinton replacing Biden

X users are not too keen with Hillary Clinton either as one user states that they are happy to see her lose again. Comments like these are made in relation to the fact that she lost the 2016 Presidential elections to former President Trump. Furthermore, there appears to be some reservations for people to support her.

Furthermore, many Republicans are calling the Democrats to run both of them as President. It seems that conservatives are confident that they will win if Trump is running against either Harris or Clinton. The sentiments between the two parties are still split almost evenly, but it seems that if Biden is still running for President, it could be a problem for the Democrats.
