White worms found again in McDonald’s meal, restaurant looking into fresh complaint

Facebook user Angela Qiqi shared some videos and pictures of white worms in her McDonald’s meal. Angela said that the incident happened in the fast food chain’s outlet in West Coast Park. She only discovered the worms after she finished her fillet-o-fish sandwich. The worms were alive and crawling in the videos she shared.

Angela claimed that the McDonald’s staff appeared nonchalant when she reported the matter to them, and tried to solve the problem by giving her a refund for the meal.
She further said: “(I) already told the staff there to check their kitchen and food so that it won’t affect others, but they don’t seem to take it seriously. They still operate as usual and didn’t seem any action taken at all… Quite disappointed ?”
She finally got a call from the restaurant’s management at 10.17pm yesterday (23 Jul). The management said that they will do a thorough investigation and keep her updated about the outcome of it.

Angela said that she had also lodged a complaint with NEA, but had not received a reply from them.

She said that she felt very irritated by the discovery of worms and kept drinking hot water hoping it would kill any worms she may have accidentally consumed. She said that she’s not going to eat in McDonald’s anymore.

Angela’s post has gone viral and has been shared over 2000 times. But this is not the first time a McDonald’s customer had discovered white worms in the restaurant’s meal.

In October last year, another customer, Jasper Lee, claimed that he found similar white worms in his Big Breakfast meal which was delivered to his home by McDelivery.

He said, “I had already eaten a few mouthfuls when I spotted something moving, and it turned out to be worms.”

Jasper added: “They’re small and they’re white, so it’s difficult to spot them amid the yellow if you don’t look closely.”

McDonald’s management responded to Jasper’s complaint and said that they were “looking into this matter very closely”, and that “food quality and safety are our top priority and we take all customer feedback very seriously.”

The restaurant said that they were doing everything they can to establish the facts of the matter. The outcome of that investigation though is not readily available in the public domain.
