Lee Kuan Yew: The man, his mayoralty and his Mafia

The Monsoons Book Club (MBC), shared a booklet to mark the first anniversary of the death of Singapore’s first Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. MBC is a a non-profit making association of concerned individuals interested in books and ideas relevant to the social, political and economic progress in the South East Asian region.
The 41-page booklet, ‘Lee Kuan Yew: The man, his mayoralty and his Mafia’ was written by Malcolm Caldwell a British academic, a prolific writer and a campaigner for Asian socialist movements. The booklet was published in 1979 *after the author’s death in 1978), by the Federation of United Kingdom and Eire Malaysian and Singapore Student Organisations (FUEMSSO).
In the booklet, Caldwell claims (among other things) that the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew after consulting astrologers was afraid that he will be assassinated that he compulsorily acquired a few blocks around the house where he stays through government decree. “…no one who is not an official or authorised business can enter the street which had hitherto been public.”
