Chantalle Ng vomited on her co-star Xu Bin in their new drama

SINGAPORE — Chantalle Ng, 27, Singaporean actress, admitted that she had a competition with her co-star Xu Bin during the set of their new Mediacorp drama, Love At First Bite

In an interview with AsiaOne, the actress shared that they like to ‘compare and see who’s suffering more’. Chantalle mentioned that in one particular scene in the drama, she was at an advantage because of her character’s role.

She plays the role of a foodie who joins a company that specialises in selling kitchenware. Her character’s job became difficult when her boss (played by Xu Bin) gave her instructions to do a livestream and prepare food to promote their products. However, she is no master chef and fails every time – which makes her boss angry.

Furthermore, Chantalle Ng is a self-proclaimed germaphobe. She found it hard to vomit on Xu Bin which was needed for a scene. For the make-up vomit, she needed to chew a mixture of digestive biscuits and milk and keep it inside her mouth until the director said it was time for the scene.

“I really almost puked,” the actress recalled. For her, the milk, biscuits and saliva all combined in her mouth were disgusting.

More so, she also struggled whenever the actor’s sweat fell on her face.

“I couldn’t really sanitize my face (using hand sanitisers), so I just dabbed (the sanitiser on my face) – it was just desperate measures”, she added.

Despite her challenges, she was able to get her revenge as she was made to collapse on top of Xu Bin – spilling curry all over him. Chantalle said she really enjoyed filming this particular scene.

The entire crew also understands the actress’ preference in terms of cleanliness and prepares big bottles of hand sanitisers on set.

Love At First Bite will be available on meWATCH and Channel 8 starting on Dec 19, 2022. It will air every weekday at 9pm.
