Jesseca Liu suffers PTSD for 6 years after experiencing accident that made the ‘car flip several times’

Jesseca Liu, 43, Malaysian actress based in Singapore, shares that she had encountered a near-death experience when she was younger. In an interview with 8World, the actress admitted that she suffered post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) due to a horrible car accident. She expressed that she was 18 at the time of the event, and together with her friends, they were driving along the highway.

The driver, who happened to be his friend’s boyfriend, fell asleep while driving. “He fell asleep at the wheel and the whole car was about to veer into a field on the side of the road.” the actress said. The driver then suddenly and harshly turned the steering wheel back on the road, which made the car flip over. 

“The car flipped several times and landed upside down on the opposite lane. We passed out after that but I vividly remember everything that happened before that,” she added. 

She and her friends suffered injuries, however, the driver had severe cuts. Due to this unfortunate event, the actress had PTSD for six years. “I couldn’t ride fast cars. As soon as a vehicle goes fast, I would break out in cold sweat and feel anxious to the point of wanting to vomit,” she expressed.

She explained that she still experiences it up to this day, specifically when she does not know the driver of the car.

In unrelated news, Jesseca stars in the new drama Soul Detective, where she plays a psychic who meddles between the spirits and the living. The drama, Soul Detective, is the third part of the supernatural trilogy that follows a Netherworld policeman as he joins forces with a human policeman to capture spirits that have escaped to the human world.
