Woman with liver disease can only work part-time but her unhappy mother-in-law says she ‘only knows how to feed on her husband like a worm’

A woman who has liver disease found herself unable to handle the situation anymore when her mother-in-law berated her for not working full-time.

In an anonymous post to popular confessions page SGWhispers, the woman took to social media seeking advice from all married couples. She wrote that she was living with her in-laws. The Singaporean woman added: “Due to my liver disease, low blood sugar and unstable health, I can only work part time (2-3 days in SG), the rest of the days I am staying in Johor”.

She added that as of late, her mother-in-law had been complaining that she did not have a full-time job and was only doing the housework at home. “Earlier just a few mins ago, she said it quite nastily that I only know how to feed on my husband like a worm. She say I expect my husband to pay for everything in the house. I do give both in laws their allowance, on top of that I also have to give my parents in Singapore their allowance, while I am only earning like 700-800 per month. To be honest I do not have savings, because of giving allowance”, the woman wrote.

Even when she washed and ironed her husband’s clothes, or cooked for him, her mother-in-law would say that she (the daughter-in-law) stole her job. To add to that, the woman wrote that her mother-in-law has openly declared her preference for her “other daughter-in-law”, namely the wife of the woman’s husband’s brother. Her other daughter-in-law worked full-time, six days a week and earned RM2000. She was also pregnant.

“I will like to ask, so being sick and unhealthy is also my fault? There were times I fainted at work, and woke up either at KTPH or TTSH. I do not know how to find a full time job given a body like mine. I have also friends in Singapore whom mentioned I am just feeding on my husband, slack at home and do nothing”, the woman wrote.

She asked if she should complain about her mother-in-law to her husband but added that she did not want him to be put in an awkward situation. She also added that her husband did not want her to get a full-time job as he earned a 5-digit salary monthly.
