A customer called out a restaurant on social media after sitting on a rusty chair which scratched through her shirt. The Facebook group Complaint Singapore member said she patronised a stall in the Food Republic in Suntec City mall on Thursday (Nov 24).

“How can you still allow this condition chair [sic] to be exposed to (the) public?” the customer asked, attaching photos of the chair. “It is so dangerous. Today, my t-shirt (was) scratched just a small hole. But imagine what if a kid hit and scratched?” asked the concerned individual.

The customer urged the management to look into the issue before someone else is harmed while handling the chair.

Netizens also urged the customer to go directly to management as the post might not reach the Food Republic. “Also, there are hundreds of chairs there for them to hunt down,” added Facebook user Myke Muk K C.

Meanwhile, netizens warned customers to take extra caution when dining at the venue. Those who accidentally cut or scratch themselves on a rusty object are at risk of developing a bacterial infection called tetanus, especially those with outdated vaccinations against the disease.

The Independent Singapore has reached out to the Food Republic for a statement and will update this article accordingly. /TISG
