Young Singaporeans choose rental & shared housing due to lack of savings and high property prices: Consumer Study

 

One key takeaway from a recent consumer sentiment study showed that two-thirds, or 66 per cent, of young Singaporeans, are choosing to rent instead of buying their own property.

The study from real estate portal PropertyGuru showed that 22 to 29-year-old respondents said they preferred to rent at the moment, rather than purchase property because they don’t have enough savings.

Singapore judges to get 5-12% pay raise to keep up with the market and help attract talent

The Public Service Division (PSD) announced on Monday (Sep 12) that the salaries of Singapore’s judges and selected statutory appointment holders will increase by 5 to 12 per cent.

The pay raise will address gaps with market benchmarks, which have increased significantly, said PSD.

A mother took to social media to appeal for witnesses after her son got hit by a car while crossing the road.

Facebook page SG Road Vigilante shared the plight of a concerned mother whose son, currently in Primary 6, was involved in an accident at the junction of Choa Chu Kang Avenue 1 and 7 on Monday (Sep 12).

Pritam Singh on One Pass: Skills transfer to Singaporeans must be at the centre of foreign manpower policies

Leader of Opposition Pritam Singh asked in Parliament on Monday (Sep 12) if the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) could promote and track the transfer of skills to Singaporeans by those holding the new Overseas Networks and Expertise (One) Pass.

The One Pass targets top foreign talent with a fixed monthly salary of S$30,000 or more from a single employer. Pass holders can hold multiple jobs or start one or more businesses.
