Maid says her employer has OCD, so makes her brush the roof, mop walls & ceilings; she has to wear mask for 3 days after going out anywhere

A maid wrote that since her employer had Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), she felt that the latter imposed rather absurd cleaning standards on her.

In an anonymous post to Facebook page FDW in Singapore (working conditions forum), the helper wrote that she worked in Singapore for a total of 13 years, and was with this particular employer for just three months. Over the years she had three different employers.

She added that her employer had Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), a common, chronic, and long-lasting disorder in which a person has uncontrollable, reoccurring thoughts (obsessions) and/or behaviours (compulsions) that he or she feels the urge to repeat an action over and over. The helper wrote that she found it very difficult to understand her employer and that she was very tired.

Her employer made her perform tasks such as “brushing the roof, mopping the wall and ceiling she wants everything very very clean”. She added that after she returned home from her day off, she had to wear a mask at home for three days, and on the fourth day would have to do an Antigen Rapid Test (ART).

In her post, the maid wrote that she found it very difficult to work wearing a mask. She also questioned why she had all the regulations imposed upon her after her off day even though the family went out practically every day.

“they also going out every day but i only go out on sunday is it only helper can get the virus? why some employer like this?” she wrote.
