K-Pop superstar Jackson Wang clears his table after eating at Changi Airport food court, fans amazed

A video of K-pop superstar Jackson Wang following the rule of returning used trays and crockery at public dining places as he finished a meal at Changi Airport got fans “falling in love” with the artiste.

After spending 12 days in Singapore, Wang departed the country on Aug 14 to another frenzy of fans waiting at the airport to send him off. However, his time at the departure hall only increased fan adoration over their idol.

The video posted on the Chinese social media platform XiaoHongShu went viral after Wang was seen clearing the table he had just used.

“Wow, oh my God!” the fan was heard in the video, as Wang returned two chairs used by his group and compiled their crockery together in one corner.

A chorus of “Woooooow” was soon heard by fans in the background, followed by “Singapore loves you.”

“Even though his staff are around, he still chose to clean his own plates, why can’t I praise him? He cleaned up after dining at a friend’s house in Thailand as well,” said a netizen.

“Even an international superstar Jackson Wang is cleaning his own table and dishes after eating. Have you cleaned your own tables after eating in public?” asked Twitter user @hannahisvip, sharing a video of Wang’s manners.

Commenting on the video, netizens such as Facebook user Othniel Lin noted that people who are socially responsible with civic consciousness would naturally set good examples. “I think it’s not just setting good examples to S’porean, but people who are in Singapore. Yes, that includes everyone IN Singapore, not just S’porean.”

Under Section 17(1) of the Environment Public Health Act, leaving litter behind at public dining places is an offence.

Diners should clear their table of litter and return their used trays and crockery.

Beginning Jan 1, 2022, diners at food courts and coffee shops who fail to clear their tables will face a composition fine of S$300. Subsequent offenders may face court fines. /TISG
