A TikToker posted a video of their mum’s new clay pot that “exploded on the table” after she had reheated some tofu.

They tagged @ntucsingapore as they had gotten the Winnie-the-Pooh clay pot as a redemption gift during a recent promo, and a spokesman for FairPrice has reached out to the TikToker and said they will be in touch with the supplier as well.

The video, posted by TikToker @peanutbutter3009 on Aug 13, shows a cooking pot with a clean break in it, looking like the base of the pot had separated from the upper part.

“It may just be my mum’s luck.

Claypot explode on table after she heat up the claypot tofu,” wrote the TikToker.

The top part of the pot is seen lifting from the bottom part, and the bottom part formed a deep plate, which meant at least some of the dish was not wasted.

They added, “PSA: Guys, just be careful when using it. NTUC redeemed claypot gift.”

In the comments, the TikToker wrote that the incident happened “mid way while my mum was transferring from stove to table”… ”reheat(ing) back to boiling point as my elder bro family came late.”

The TikToker quickly reported the incident to NTUC via their feedback channel, and by Sunday (Aug 14), received a call so that NTUC “could get a better understanding of what happened.”

They told NTUC about the incident, and asked them to look at other comments on the video “to tackle those who are worried that had purchase the same products.”

FairPrice offered Winnie the Pooh dinnerware and lifestyle accessories, a promo that only recently ended.

It appears that many availed of the products, and some shared their concerns in the comments.

FairPrice has apologised for the incident, a report in AsiaOne says.

“We apologise for the concern that it has caused and we are currently in touch with the customer to address his concerns,” said a FairPrice spokesperson, adding, “This appears to be an isolated case and has been the only feedback of such a nature that we have received on this promotional product.”

“We take this very seriously and will work with our suppliers to ensure the products we offer are safe for use,” the spokesperson said. /TISG
