Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers engaged in a rescue mission after a toddler was left inside a locked car along Lim Liak Street in Tiong Bahru. It was reported that the one-year-old’s mother and helper initially planned to bring the boy out, but the doors automatically locked when they stepped out, leaving the keys inside.
A witness told Chinese-language newspaper Shin Min Daily News that the boy kept crying inside the car while his mother ran to the nearby market for help. A video of SCDF officers smashing the SUV window was uploaded by witnesses on the short-video creation app TikTok.

Three SCDF personnel used a tool to punch holes through the window on the back door before removing the entire window.
Meanwhile, the boy’s mother stood by the car to calm him down.
The officers were then able to unlock the door and retrieve the crying toddler, taking about 15 minutes to complete the rescue mission.
Reports noted that the boy was stuck inside the SUV for about half an hour in the hot weather. It remains unclear if the air-conditioning was left on before the doors locked.
SCDF confirmed receiving a call for assistance on June 5 at about 11:40 am at 23 Lim Liak Street.
Another video uploaded online showed the mother reuniting with her child while SCDF paramedics assessed the child’s condition. /TISG
