The collapse of a swimming pool in China’s Henan Province yesterday (April 19) has left 3 people dead and nine injured.

The partial collapse is said to have been caused by the building’s roof caving in with scattered concrete and debris inside, but the information remains sketchy as investigation into the matter commences.

The 12 people who were trapped had been taken out of the building by 3pm. Of these, only nine survived. However, sources say there may have been more people.

The rescue operations were conducted by the local emergency public security and the fire and health departments.

The hot spring swimming pool was located in Zhengzhou city. So far, three managers of the pool have been taken into custody by the local police.

Residents of the city claim that the swimming pool was built 30 years ago, a fact that is yet to be confirmed by local authorities.

According to China News, the admission fee to the pool is not expensive and many locals swim there on weekends.
