Singapore – A Good Samaritan was caught on camera freeing a mynah that got entangled in a tree along Sin Ming, the frantic bird eventually calming down as it realised help was on the way.

Facebook page Complaint Singapore member Salahuddin Niruv uploaded a video on Saturday (Jan 29) that was unlike other complaint-related posts but still worthwhile as it involved an animal rescue.

The one-and-a-half minute video showed a man holding a ladder approaching a tree where a mynah was frenetically struggling.

The incident reportedly took place at Block 442 Sin Ming Avenue.

Resident or estate cleaning staff or not, the man turned into a bird rescuer as he hoisted the ladder to reach for the bird with his hands.

Although the mynah screeched and flapped its wings at first, making it difficult for the man to get a secure grasp, the bird soon realised that the man wasn’t a foe.

The man succeeded in detaching the line from the tree branch, but the bird was still entangled.

He then got off the ladder and peeled the line gently using a pair of scissors.

When finally free, the man raised his hand and let the bird loose, allowing it to take flight./TISG
