Singapore — Over 800 higher education institutions in the United States alone have made vaccination mandatory, including international students from Singapore.
Erudera is a University Vaccine Requirement Checker tool for quick access to crucial information regarding inoculations per country.
As the growing number of colleges and universities require their students to be fully vaccinated before being eligible to attend an on-campus lecture, the tool provides students with a complete list of universities asking on-campus students to be vaccinated against Covid-19 or show a negative test as valid proof of immunisation.
“Many universities worldwide have already joined the list of institutions requiring vaccines, while several others have announced that they will soon introduce such mandates as the only way to keep students and the university community safe.”
“Our tool provides quick information about universities currently requiring the vaccine, and data is being updated in real-time, depending on the change of rules at a particular university,” said Erudera’s education expert, Gent Ukëhajdaraj.
With the constantly changing Covid-19 measures being implemented globally, students looking to enrol abroad might have difficulty keeping track of current regulations.
Erudera, the world’s first education search platform backed by artificial intelligence, is making critical information readily available for new and current students, bridging the gap between distance and data.
However, students can also apply for an exemption to the vaccination rules for medical or religious reasons with accompanying proof to be able to access campuses.
A psychology student named Amelia, who has been studying in Australia, shared how the pandemic has altered her plans.
“It was an extremely stressful period of my life, as I had planned to study in Melbourne, Australia, and although I had received my university admission letter and everything was ready for me to start my studies, Covid-19 happened, and all my plans changed.
As we all know, Australia enforced some of the world’s toughest restrictions amid pandemic, and it took almost two years before I and other international students from Singapore and other countries were told we were able to head to Australia.
Pandemic affected my studies as I didn’t get the whole experience of studying abroad, which of course includes travelling, going out with friends, attending lectures physically, etc. I have even considered changing the study destination and moving elsewhere, for instance in the UK, which was more open to international students during the crisis.”
Regarding vaccinations, Amelia noted that many universities have made it mandatory to be able to attend in-person lectures.
“I know this is one of the reasons some of my friends cannot join me, as they aren’t vaccinated. However, I believe that vaccine mandates are the right step for a return to normality, and vaccination is a safe and effective way to protect students, faculty, staff, and all communities from Covid-19,” said Amelia.
