Man force-feeds alcohol to 13yo and brutally rapes her repeatedly for 2 hours at Kallang Riverside Park, appeals for lighter sentence

 

Singapore — A man who was sentenced to 28 years imprisonment and 24 strokes of the cane for raping a minor tried to get a lighter sentence, noting his low intelligence made it hard for him to choose from pleading guilty or claiming trial.

In March this year, Muhammad Alif Ab Rahim, 36, pleaded guilty to one count of rape of a minor and two counts of sexual assault by penetration of a minor.

Singapore — One of the more interesting parts of the Bloomberg New Economy Forum, which ended its first day on Wednesday (Nov 18), was the exchange between Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Bloomberg editor-in-chief John Micklethwait about Singapore’s leadership succession question.

The forum, held at the Capella Hotel on Sentosa, is the first major international forum to be held since the Covid-19 pandemic began, with 300 delegates from 51 countries.

Singapore — Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) announced on Wednesday (Nov 17) on their Facebook page that SNOC chairman, Dr Teh Kong Chuan has passed away.

Dr Teh served the athletes and patients, working for over 30 years in the Sports Medicine & Research Centre of Singapore Sports Council.

6yo boy on kick scooter dies after run over by car at Toa Payoh zebra crossing, his death ruled as tragic traffic misadventure

Singapore — A six-year-old boy was pinned under a car at a zebra crossing at the exit of SAFRA Toa Payoh’s carpark. The State Coroner ruled his death as a tragic traffic incident.

On Apr 15 this year, the Japanese boy was riding his kick scooter over the zebra crossing when a car ran over him, pinning him under the vehicle.

Lawyer MRavi: It appears that the AG can’t take the heat on Iris Koh’s Covid Constitutional challenge

Singapore — Lawyer Ravi MRavi took to Facebook on Wednesday (Nov 18) to criticise the Attorney General, writing, “It appears that the AG can’t take the heat on Iris Koh’s Covid Constitutional challenge and all other legal challenges filed.”

He posted photos of a Contempt of Court document from the Attorney General’s Chambers that he had received that day, perceiving it to be a threat and claiming that its intent is to intimidate him.
