Singapore — Whenever a countryman makes it big abroad, Singaporeans are always proud of their fellow men’s achievements. Lim Kay Siu, 61 is one example of a Singaporean who has made it big in Hollywood.
Since the 80s, he has been acting in TV and films. He also starred in a handful of Asian films. Lim appeared in notable works which includes Anna and the King where he plays Prince Chowfa, and as Frankie Foo in Phua Chu Kang.
According to Deadline, which reports breaking Hollywood news, said on Nov 16 that Lim has been cast in Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender. The actor will be playing the character Gyatso, an Air Nomad monk who is known to be kind and caring.
Lim’s appearance with his bald head and sinister demeanour in film and TV have made him an ideal villain. Perhaps he was chosen to be a monk in Avatar: The Last Airbender because of his bald head.
Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender is a reimagined live-action adventure based on the Nickelodeon animated series of the same name.
Lim’s wife, brother, and sister are also actors. Lim is married to Neo Swee Lin who predominantly acts in the theatre, compared to film or TV. She had also acted in Anna and the King and in a Phua Chu Kang movie.
Lim’s older brother, Lim Kay Tong, is also an actor and well-known Singaporean TV personality. Irene Lim Kay Han is Lim’s sister, and she is also in showbiz.
Lim and his wife Neo hosts a ukulele show every day of the week called the NeoKeleLims Social Club on social media. According to the description, the show is about “singing, sharing stories with our ukuleles everyday of the week.” The show can be viewed on Twitch, Instagram and SessionsLive. /TISG
