Children spotted playing ‘Squid Game’s Red Light, Green Light in Sembawang

Singapore ― Netflix’s hit series Squid Game continues making waves globally, with influencers trying their luck in the dalgona candy challenge, or even children at a Sembawang park playing “Red Light, Green Light.”

Following the popularity of the first children’s game featured in Squid Game, a group of children was seen having fun with the game at a playground located at Block 406 Sembawang Drive.

“So my friend sent me this video, and I had to share. Squid game strong,” wrote the TikTok user who shared the video.

“Are you ready?” asked the kid standing by the wall while the others said “Yes!” enthusiastically.

The child standing by the wall proceeds to chant in near-perfect Korean “mugunghwa kkoci pieot seumnida” while three other children make their way to the finish line.

The kid chanting then changes the pace of the “green light” in an attempt to catch the players off guard.

One kid makes it to the finish line while another moved during a “red light.” A “bang, bang” was heard, and the child pretends to be “killed off” by falling to the ground.

The children also take turns being the spotter, giving everyone a chance to chant or run.

Commenting on the video, TikTok user Nur Hasif wrote, “At least they’re not on their iPads, I guess.”

“Besides all the comments about showing kids violence, it actually warms my heart to see children playing outside again and not on their devices,” added TikTok user Douglas.

Meanwhile, others noted that there was a Singapore version of the game called Mr Wolf or AEIOU. /TISG
