Actress Koe Yeet Shines in ACA Nominations for Best Newcomer

Kuala Lumpur ― Koe Yeet, a versatile Malaysian actress, has been spotlighted on the international stage, receiving a nomination for Best Newcomer Actress at the Asia Contents Awards (ACA), a prominent event organized by the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea.

8 Days, a Singaporean entertainment portal reported that the 29-year-old actress, Koe Yeet, was nominated for her role in the 2020 Singaporean drama series Titoudao: Inspired By The True Story Of A Wayang Star.

The series is a 13-episode period drama adapted from the 1994 play of the same name by Goh Boon Teck. It is about the life of a Chinese opera star named Ah Chiam (played by Koe Yeet) who was based on the playwright’s mother.

The ACA received 163 submissions, including television and online series from 16 countries, double the number of submissions last year.

The awards ceremony will be streamed on Oct 7. Koe Yeet is a law graduate from Petaling Jaya who started acting at the age of five in various TV advertisements, reported New Straits Times.

She appeared in the 2011 Chinese New Year comedy Homecoming alongside Datuk Afdlin Shauki, singer-songwriter Aniu, and Singaporean stars Jack Neo and Rebecca Lim of HBO drama series The Bridge. The actress also starred in the 2008 action-comedy Ah Long Pte Ltd directed by Neo.

Born Jan 17, 1992, Koe Yeet is a Malaysian television and film actress. She started her career as a child actress and runway model at the age of five, starring in various television commercials and appearing in children’s fashion shows.

Koe Yeet began her education at Jalan Davidson Chinese primary school and completed her secondary education at the Catholic High School, Petaling Jaya.

In 2016, Koe Yeet received a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Reading and advanced to the Bar Professional Training Course.

Koe Yeet achieved notability for her role in the 2008 action comedy film Ah Long Pte Ltd by actor-director Jack Neo. She also starred in Wind Chimes In A Bakery; a web series sponsored by Samsung Malaysia which has received a total of 4.7 million views.

Koe has been a brand ambassador for Nike, Inc. since 2011.
