Malaysia ― Birthdays are usually celebrated with cakes and presents from our loved ones. And once in a while, we may also splurge and get something special as a birthday present.

As for celebrities, they receive extravagant gifts from fans who come together to do something significant for their idols. Fans of Malaysian singer-songwriter Azora Chin (You Zhang Jing) also made some hefty donations for his birthday, according to Hype.my.

Azora, who was born in Johor, celebrated his 27th birthday on Sept 19. To mark the special occasion, Azora announced the release of his latest music video, “Begin (启)”.

But that was not the only thing that happened on his birthday. Malaysian fans of Azora made donations to two charities in honour of the star.

Based on Azora’s fanpage on Facebook “You Chang Jing See You Station (尤长靖惜尤seeyou个站)”, the first charity was a dog shelter.

Named “Puppy’s Loving Home”, the Selangor-based dog shelter currently hosts over 250 dogs.

RM919 (SGD296) had been donated under Azora’s name in hopes of providing food and other necessities for the dogs. They chose the number 919 specifically, as his birthday is on 19 Sept.

The other charity that the fans made a donation to is the Batu Pahat Huaren Secondary School. The school is Azora’s alma mater and RM5,000 (SGD1,600) was donated.

It was written on the fanpage that there were students who could not afford the fees due to the pandemic. The money will help students who are facing difficulties and allow them to continue their education in their own mother tongue.

Currently, Azora is developing his career overseas in China.

Besides releasing his music, the artist has also appeared on the show “Rap Star 2 (说唱听我的2)” as a mentor. Azora is becoming more popular thanks to both his music career and his appearance on the show.

Azora has definitely inspired his fans to help others where they can, despite not being in the country. The gift his fans have given him may not be physical, but it’s certainly appreciated, if not by the artist, then by those who would be helped.
