Car suddenly accelerates, split-second away from crushing father and son crossing street

Singapore – A video of a father and son crossing a street and almost getting hit by a vehicle that accidentally accelerated has gone viral online.

“Father and son must thank their guardian angels for keeping them safe,” wrote Facebook page ROADS.sg on Friday (Sept 17).

The video, taken from the rear camera of a vehicle, showed the pedestrians entering the street to cross to the other side.

As the father and son walked, the black vehicle beside them began moving forward.

The vehicle misses them by a few inches.

The sudden acceleration resulted in the black vehicle hitting the car in front, surprising the passengers inside.

A few moments later, the driver of the black vehicle stepped out and placed his palm up as an apology to the passengers in front and the pedestrians.

According to the post, a black vehicle experienced unintended sudden acceleration. The incident happened on Sept 10 at around 6:10 pm.

Members from the online community advised for a police report to be filed. “Really c****i driver, go file a police report,” commented Facebook user Ollie Lin.

“File a police report; this cannot be (taken) lightly. What if the father and the kid get crush(ed). You driver want act blur it don’t give them face,” said Facebook user Roshan Singh.

“Suspend his license straight away. The man with the child is very lucky,” added another netizen.

Facebook user Michael Sim noted that road users “must be attentive when behind the steering wheel as any slight lack of focus can result in dire consequences.” /TISG
