BTS Jungkook is first male idol to achieve 100m streams on Spotify

South Korean K-pop band BTS’s Jungkook hit another record to be the first male idol in a group to achieve a whopping number of 100 million streams on Spotify.

He also achieved that with an unpromoted b-side. The single, Euphoria is currently the third most streamed song by a Korean soloist on Spotify.

It is also the longest-charting song by a male idol on BB World digital song sales.

Euphoria achieved critical acclaim and is a favourite among celebrities.

The song was also played as a soundtrack on HBO’s Euphoria finale and has over one million unique listeners on the South Korean streaming platform Genie.

It is also the most successful BTS song chart-wise.

BTS, also known as Bangtan Boys is a South Korean boy band formed in Seoul in 2013.

Its members are Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook. The group co-writes and produces most of their material.

Born in Busan on 1 September 1997, Jungkook’s family consists of his parents and an elder brother. He studied at Baekyang Elementary and Middle School in Busan.

He transferred to Singu Middle School in Seoul when he became a trainee.

Since young, he wanted to be a badminton player but after he saw G-Dragon perform Heartbreaker on TV, it influenced him to pursue a singing career.

In 2013, he made his debut with K-pop group BTS.

In other news, K-pop boy group BTS has officially become the second-ever global artist to top the Social 50 chart in a total of 150 weeks after Justin Bieber according to Billboard on Oct 31.

This marks their 120th consecutive #1 as the group tops the Billboard Social 50 chart for the week of Oct 24.

At 163 weeks, Justin Bieber currently holds the highest number of weeks as #1 on the Social 50 chart.

Taylor Swift and Rihanna have a record of 28 weeks and 21 weeks, respectively.
