Leader of K-Pop group Big Bang G-Dragon is slated to be discharged from the army this week.
The K-pop idol stands to be discharged on October 26. G-Dragon was also recently spotted at his sister’s wedding.
Given the unstable future of Big Bang and YG Entertainment with the current scandals, fans are interested in the future of G-Dragon’s promotions.
Sources close to the matter revealed that a Big Bang comeback is set in the near future as the rumour mill started rolling.
YG Entertainment, G-Dragon’s label posted an official notice on Big Bang’s official website regarding the members’ upcoming discharge dates from their mandatory military service on 23 Oct.
YG Entertainment stated:
“Currently, the military base where G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung are serving their mandatory service duties is considered an entry point for the spread of the African swine fever virus; in order to prevent the virus from spreading any further, the military base is strengthening quarantine operations and advises visitors to refrain from entering the area.”
The label continued, “As administrative authorities have also issued a serious warning regarding this virus, we firmly as that fans do not visit the Big Bang members’ military discharge sites, for both your own safety as well as to prevent the virus from spreading.”
This month and November, Big Bang members G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung will all be discharged from their mandatory military service.
G-Dragon, whose real name is Kwon Ji-yong is nicknamed king of K-pop. He is a singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer, entrepreneur and fashion icon based in South Korea.
When he was twelve years old, he trained for six years at South Korean entertainment label YG Entertainment.
In 2006, G-Dragon debuted as the leader of hip hop boy band Big Bang which is one of the most popular boy bands globally.
In 2016, Forbes named G-Dragon as the most influential person under 30 in Asia’s entertainment and sports. /TISG
