Actress Maya Karin denies involvement in politician’s divorce

Malaysian actress Maya Karin has been rumoured to be linked to Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

The politician and his wife of 14 years, Dr Imaan Abdul Rahim divorced recently.

According to a report by Utusan, the actress denied being involved in the divorce and although she knows him has said that he is a casual acquaintance.

“I am friends with many politicians. At my age, I am more comfortable in their company to engage in discussions.

“I don’t know where these rumours came from though, and why my name has been involved.”

The 39-year-old star wishes the couple the best in overcoming this difficult period.

Maya Karin is no stranger to rumours, having been linked to politicians in the past.

In May 2019 singer Aliff Aziz and his wife Dayang Nabellah Awang Astillah (Bella) were divorced over alleged cheating claims.

“My husband often cheats on me,” Bella said when asked by the court on reasons of her application.

The 25-year-old mother of one said she has evidence of her husband’s wrongdoings in the form of pictures and videos.

The court ordered Singaporean Aliff Aziz to pay RM1,000 alimony (nafkah) to Bella starting May 2019.

Almost two years ago, Aliff was at the centre of a controversy that involved a karaoke outing with actress Afifah Nasir.

The scandal took place while Bella was in confinement as she had just given birth to their son, Ayden Adrean.

Last February, Bella revealed that Aliff went out with actress Oktovia Manrose.

Recently, it has been reported that the singer was once again implicated in a controversy when an intimate photo of him with a woman identified only as Nismel was making its rounds in cyberspace.-/TISG
