Singapore – A visitor to the newly opened Canopy Park at Jewel Changi Airport visited the new attraction to enjoy but unfortunately went home with an injured hand due to the tough ropes at Sky Net.
Netizen June Neo went to Facebook on June 15 to share her alarming experience at the Manulife Sky Nets located at the topmost level of Jewel Changi Airport.
The attraction, which hangs on across a five-storey high altitude are made with intertwined thick ropes so that visitors can traverse the area.
However, according to Ms June, the ropes are tough, and the holes are “big enough for [an] adult’s foot to go through [and get] stuck in there.”
“I fell as my foot stuck, and my hand had a big cut. I am lucky that I am wearing pants if not, my legs will end up like my hand. So only slight abrasion to my legs and also bruises on my arm. Even sitting down or lying down on the ropes is also painful,” shared Ms June.
She also posted pictures of the rather deep cut on her hand.
Ms June went on to warn parents to ensure that their kids wear pants and gloves and take extra caution when visiting the Sky Nets.
She also thanked the first aid attendant that responded to her emergency.
A representative from Jewel Changi Airport has verified the incident, which happened on June 14, and that “they regret the guest’s unfortunate experience.”
The representative also urged visitors to “stay aware of their personal safety” while enjoying the attraction.
The spokesperson mentioned that “numerous safety tests, including certification of material used” were conducted on the park to ensure that it was safe for operations.
Furthermore, safety advisories regarding the proper footwear, visitor behaviour, minimum height requirement, and adult supervision for children are provided.
There is also a limit to the number of visitors allowed per attraction at a given period to ensure everyone’s safety, reported Today.
“Hence, it is not uncommon to see rangers, who are stationed on the walking net at all times, walking hand in hand with visitors who may require assistance during their experience on the walking net,” the spokesperson said.
“We will continue to monitor the ground closely and wish to offer our guests an enjoyable visit to Jewel each and every time,” added the spokesperson.
