In anticipation of the launch of his new book ‘Never On Bended Knees’, Dr Chee Soon Juan, the Secretary-general of the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) took to Facebook with a video talking about his book. He also took the opportunity to address comments made by PAP Minister Grace Fu.

In the video, he started off by speaking about the political climate in Singapore. He then added, “Writing books is how I make a living. In 2016, during the by-election, PAP Minister Grace Fu mocked me for not holding a full-time job”.

He continued, “I’d like to tell her that running a party, doing research to draw up alternative policies, meeting with people, and writing books is more than a full-time job. In fact, I dare say that I work no less hard than the ministers and without big budgets and assistants”.

“Running a party and writing my books cannot be a part-time job, not if you want to do what we’ve done or achieve what we’ve set out to do – all with zero public funds”, he added.

Dr Chee also said that the sales of his book will also help to fund his campaign in the next General Election, which may be held later this year.

Dr Chee’s book will be launched on the 26th of January, 2pm, at the Lifelong Learning Institute at Paya Lebar Central.
