Edison Chen’s daughter and her rare Supreme x LV toy chest

Edison Koon-hei Chen is a famous Hong Kong-Canadian actor, singer-songwriter, rapper, producer, entrepreneur and fashion designer. He is also well-known for a sex photo scandal back in 2008 wherein otherwise private photographs of him and several Hong Kong Chinese actresses were leaked online.

Last year, he and his Chinese model girlfriend, Qin Shupei, had a daughter named Alaia thus changing his reputation from “bad boy” to “devoted daddy”. Alaia, who is turning 3 next March, has been flaunted on her daddy’s Instagram account with a steady 2.2 million followers.

The most recent one was posted on Christmas Day which caused a bit of controversy on social media.

It was a picture of Alaia in a very rare and even more expensive “toy chest”. Mr. Chen captioned the post “Alaia’s Toy Chest” but it was a box unlike no other. If the rest of the world could afford this limited edition Supreme x Louis Vuitton collaboration trunk, they would definitely kill to get their hands on it. Launched last year, it is being sold for US$ 68,500 (S$94,000) making it one of the most expensive and rarest pieces in the collection. The item is so rare that a similar piece was auctioned off for more than US$100,000 last year.

ALAIA’S TOY CHEST

Aside from greeting the family their holiday wishes, netizens couldn’t ignore the bright Supreme red and iconic “LV” logo. One user commented, “Expensive items plus a priceless cute daughter. Life is fantastic”, while another questioned what kind of #richlife the picture is portraying.  One captioned it “The life of a princess”.

This wasn’t the first time Alaia was photographed showcasing the presumable wealth of Mr. Chen. Two days before, she was seen posing with her sippie cup with two frames of dollar bill art in the background.

JUST CHILLINE

Given how social media works, it is only natural the online community will wonder what the real purpose of posting the pictures were, if it was to show off the adorable daughter or the possessions. Either way, the saying holds true: If you’ve got it, might as well flaunt it.
